There was plenty of drama in Twister territory as six of the eight medal games were decided by just one goal, including a couple of overtime contests. Atom Gold medal Emma Westwater scored a hat trick, including a pair of goals in the third period, as Inland Traffic edged Die-Mold Tool 3-2 in the final. Rhiannon Wolter set up all three of Westwaters markers. Alessandra Previte and Quinlan Stamp replied for Die-Mold. Silver medal First-period goals by Megan Heaney and Lyla Dixon were enough for Freckled Lion to hang on for a 2-1 victory against a determined M&M Pro Sports side. Zoe Butson and Taylor LeBlanc earned assists for Freckled Lion, while Samantha Hannah had M&Ms goal from Julia Boucher and Samantha Worthman. Bronze medal Money Connect defeated Cooper Standard 1-0 in a shootout on goals by Madelyn Ritchie and Kerianne Skea. Goalie Jamie Laxton of Money Connect didnt allow a shot past her, while Cooper Standards Hanna Miller also kept a clean scoresheet through regulation time. Peewee Gold medal Another exciting finish to a tight game, with White prevailing over Teal 2-1. Madison Champ and Samantha Bartens tallied early on for the Whites, with assists going to Jackie McDonald, Emily Sturm, Kelsey Widdrington and Champ. Teals lone score came from Allison Webb, set up by Rachel Gorjup and Maggie Bolt. Silver medal Michelle Kellys hat trick proved to be the difference in B&H Transfers 4-3 triumph against First Nation Engineering. Meaghan Plestid also found net for B&H, with Stephanie Larkin, Taylor Alves and Amanda Ellsworth netting First Nations goals. Kara Laidlaw, Kathleen Foley, Ellsworth, Lindsay Maud and Melanie Gray recorded assists. Bantam Gold medal Kaya Firth led the charge for Pinnacle with two goals in their 5-2 win over Team Black on Sunday in the championship matchup. Samantha Stull, Taylor Trach and Natalie Gorjup added single markers to the cause, while Tia McQuarrie picked up three assists and Megan McGinnis had a pair. Carly Pringle scored twice for Black and Taylor Grasser assisted on both. Silver medal Sarah Field potted the overtime winner for the Flyers in their 5-4 victory against Twisters Red. Rebecca Amirault (2), Rachel Kirkwood and Chloe Beaulieu also scored for the Flyers, while Jamie Vieira (2), Linsey Murray and Deanna Bussmann struck back for the Red squad. Bussmann added two assists. Women Gold medal Cindy Baker posted the shutout for Storm Building Supplies as they downed Boston Pizza 2-0. Jennifer Milne and Alisa Exelby supplied the offence for SBS. Photo by Ted Brown SPORTS & LEISURE Stingers, Chargers reach Halton hoops semis The two remaining Halton Hills teams in the Halton elementary public school Tier I basketball playdowns were elimi- nated at the semifinal stage on Tuesday evening. In the girls draw, the Stewarttown Stingers were shocked by this years Cinderella team, Oakvilles Heritage Glen, 33-28 in one of two final-four matchups Tuesday. Heritage Glen finished fourth in the Central Division but has peaked in the playoffs and grabbed an 18-13 halftime lead over North champion Stewartttown. The Stingers rallied and owned a one- point lead in the fourth quarter before Heritage Glen came back in the final min- utes. Mischa Fitterer had nine points for Stewarttown and Sarah Rucinsky added eight more. Georgetowns Centennial Chargers outscored their opponents in the second half but bowed out to River Oaks of Oakville 37-31 on Tuesday in the Halton Tier I boys semifinals in Milton. Alex Garvey had a strong game for the Chargers with 18 points and Cam Wilkinson chipped in eight. The Halton Tier I championships were held Thursday night in Burlington
