GEORGETOWN CARRIERS NEEDED John St. Mountainview Rd. N Charles St. ACTON Somerville Rd If interested, please call CIRCULATION 905-873-0301 14 Acton/Georgetown, Friday, April 25, 2008 Halton Police are investigating the theft of a trailer and two Ski-Doos taken from the lot at Halton Hills Electric on Commerce Court, Acton sometime Saturday or Sunday. Police say Monday a relative of the owner of the snowmobiles and trailer came upon the trailer with one of the snowmobiles on it parked on the side of 32 Sideroad. Missing was a 2002 Ski-Doo val- ued at $4,500. Ski-Doos, trailer taken from Acton firm Kanichis said they have included two-to-three feet of stone around the building and that its a nice, clean- looking building. He indicated they were open to dis- cussion about what it might look like, as long as it looks still like a store and not a house. After the Carpet Palace owners submitted their plans for their proper- ty to the Town, Bob Butrym, the Towns traffic manager, said in response to concerns raised by Norval residents over the years about traffic at the intersection of Adamson St. and Hwy. 7. the possibility of taking some property from the Carpet Palace land to improve that intersection is being considered. He said with the old building removed a left-turn lane could possi- bly be added for northbound Adamson St. traffic south of Hwy. 7, but it is only an option to be consid- ered by the Regions of Peel and Halton. That potential road improvement is troubling to Reed who said if that hap- pens, there will be no Norval bypass because there will be no pressure to build one. Its further deterioration of the whole character of the community, said Gastle, Both she and Reed are upset Heritage Halton Hills has no issue with the buildings demolition. The Carpet Palace owners require a minor variance, site plan approval a demolition permit and building permit before they can go forward with their plans for the property. The application is to be before the Towns Committee of Adjustment Wednesday, May 7. Theres a process to be followed, said Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette. Im sure the former mayor would know this. Its early in the process. Its just in the circulation stage. No decision has been made. (Lisa Tallyn can be reached at ltallyn@independentfreepress.com) Road may see improvement if building is demolished Continued from pg. 5
