Mr. Potato Head Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, April 30, 2008 17 Richmond has now taken over the clubs general manager role as well and invited about 70 players to take part in this weeks rookie camp workouts. Richmond said that the added title wont be so difficult to man- age since the team figures to have 10 to 13 players return from last years roster. Its a heck of a lot better than one, which we had come back last year, Richmond laughed. To have even 10 players come back would be terrific, and then we add 10 more, if you could do that every year it would be a really good position to be in. Other changes to the staff include the addition of assistant coach Geoff Schmogyi, who played for the University of Massachussetts at Lowell, and prior to that with the Milton Jr. A Merchants. Schmogyi has coached in the Greater Toronto Hockey League with the Mississauga Senators for the past few seasons. The Raiders new assistant general man- ager is Acton resident Mike Manuel, a for- mer teammate of Richmonds with the Senior A Cambridge Hornets. Georgetowns main camp doesnt get started until August. The team will stage a fund-raising golf tournament on Sunday, June 1 at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Georgetown with a 2 p.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $250 per golfer. For more info call 905-877-8468. A half-dozen Georgetown residents took up the 26-mile challenge with over 27,000 other entrants to race in the Boston Marathon last week. About 5,000 of the athletes were unable to finish the hilly course under warm conditions in Beantown. James Warnock, 38, was the fastest local finisher in a time of three hours, 36 minutes and 24 seconds, good for 8,335th overall, just ahead of Georgetowns Mark Rush, 51, who checked in at 3:36:31. Also completing the 112th running of the event were Sheldon Gragg (3:52:23), Claudine Waddick (3:56: 04), Brenda Hamilton (4:20:50) and Betty DOliveira (4:21:22). Betty DOliveira (left) and Brenda Hamilton were among six Georgetown residents who took part in the Boston Marathon.
