Acton/Georgetown, Friday, May 9, 2008 15 ENTERTAINMENT Members of the Halton Wood Carving Club had a suc- cessful day at a recent Carving Competition held at the Brampton Seniors Centre. The event, held April 26, and sponsored by the Flower City Seniors Centre, Brampton was open to all wood carv- ing clubs and individual carvers. Nine separate classifications, covering most aspects of wood carving, were judged by a Peoples Choice method. Bonnie Malenfant of Erin, a longtime m e m b e r of the H a l t o n W o o d C a r v e r s , took the award for Best of Show. Her beautiful rendition of a handheld new born babe (inset) was the top pick of the show. Other Halton Wood Carving Club members with award winning entries: Ruth Leeman, Erin, first , Animal Carving Norm Hohban, Georgetown, second, Bird Carving Bert Hutchinson, Georgetown, third, Relief Carving John Poole, Carlisle, second, Caricatures and third, Animal Carving The Halton Wood Carvers is open to all, from beginner to experienced carvers. For information contact Norm Hohban, 905-702-8039. Georgetown potter Janice Sukhiani works on a bowl at the Cedarvale Cottage during the annual Credit Valley Artisans show and sale held last weekend. The two-day show fea- tured plenty of original one-of-a-kind works by the four guilds of the CVA including a piece by the Stained Glass Crafters below. The other guilds are the Potters and Sculptors, Heritage Handweavers and Spinners, and the Palette and Pencil Club.
