The donation will be used to purchase med- ical equipment for the hospital, Badham donated the money in memory of his late wife who received comforting and excellent care at Georgetown Hospital espe- cially during her battle with cancer. I wanted to give back in some meaningful way to the hospital that has always been there for us, said Badham in a press release issued by the hospital. Georgetown Hospital is fortunate to have a very talented and progressive team of dedicat- ed healthcare professionals, but they couldnt do their jobs to the highest standard without the support of donors like Mr. Badham, said K.C. Carruthers, Executive Director of the Georgetown Hospital Foundation. It always surprises people to learn that gov- ernment funding alone does not cover the nec- essary medical equipment purchases for our hospital. We need everything from basic equipment like beds, to leading edge surgical equipment and lifesaving emergency equipment like defib- rillators and ventilators, added Carruthers. We are hoping to raise $600,000 for new hos- pital equipment this year and, thanks to Mr. Badhams generous donation, we are well on our way to achieving that goal. Georgetown Hospital has a wonderful rep- utation and personal donations such as this are a testament to the great care our hospital pro- vides to our community. I hope that Mr. Badhams commitment to his hospital and community will inspire others to consider the ongoing equipment needs not funded by the Ministry of Health, said Paul Armstrong, Chair of the Georgetown Hospital Foundation. We thank Mr. Badham for remembering our hospital. His gift will make a phenomenal difference to our patients and their families.
