See details Wednesday. WEDNESDAY... Canadas 141st birthday will be celebrated with a parade, birthday cake, music, fireworks and lots more in Halton Hills on Tuesday, July 1. The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with the annual Canada Day in the Glen, hosted by the Glen Williams Town Hall Board. A parade with marching bands and decorated wagons and bicycles starts at noon. Due to bridge construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane and no spectators will be allowed on the bridge during the parade. The parade route begins at Alexander and Confederation Sts. and ends at St. Johns United Church. The official opening celebrations, including the cutting of the Canada Day cake and the decla- ration of the 2008 Glen Citizen of the Year, gets underway 1 p.m. at the Gazebo Main Stage. Childrens activities continue throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for the adults theres a historical walking tour and a seniors strawberry tea, and musical artists, Ambre McLean, Kent McMillian, Kevin Brown and home- grown Glen girl, Erica Lewin, who headline the Concert at the Gazebo, 1:30-4:30 p.m. The day winds down with the annual Duck Race on Credit River. Proceeds of the race will go to Georgetown District High School for a new electronic sign. Bring a picnic lunch to the daylong event or visit the food vendors. All proceeds from the Georgetown Rotary Clubs food tent will go to the Georgetown Bread Basket. Cap off Canada Day celebrations in the Glen with a chicken barbecue (6:30 p.m.) followed by fireworks at St. Alban the Martyr Anglican Church, 537 Main St. Barbecue tickets are avail- able from the church (905-877-8323). Transportation is available. A free will donation will be taken during the fireworks display. Or, take the drive to Acton and join the resi- dents of Acton in celebrating Canada Day with a Concert in the Park followed by fireworks. Acton BIA hosts the evening entertainment in Prospect Park, starting at 6 p.m. until about 9 p.m. Local performers include The Bluesers and One Nite Stand and Robert Little Schools Everybody Dance Club. After the concert, stay for the Acton Fire Fighters Associations annual fireworks display over Fairy Lake beginning at dusk.
