For details see Wednesdays edition. WEDNESDAY... Its a go for the lineup of summer horse shows at Halton Place. Like last year, the fate of the shows was up in the air after neighbours of the 15 Sideroad horse farm appealed a Niagara Escarpment Commission decision to issue a development permit for the events. An Environmental Review Tribunal hearing held in Georgetown ended last Wednesday and on Friday, hearing officer Dirk Vanderbent, upheld the NEC decision, which came with 23 condi- tions, paving the way for the six shows. The first show of the season, The Summers Here Junior Show 1, is already underway being held from Wednesday through Monday, July 7. The second week of the Summers Here show will be July 8 to 14, and the third from July 15 to 21. The first week of Canadian Country Classic runs August 19 to 25, the second from August 26 through September 1 and the third one from September 2 to 8. Neighbouring landowners Jack Pemberton and Hilda Darcie appealed the approval given by the NEC in April. Darcie later withdrew her appeal. Neighbour Mike Shantz had party status at the hearing, other participants and presenters at the hearing were area residents Robert Brettle, James and Erin Wallace, Janet Campbell and Kathleen Coyle. On Wednesday, Pemberton said he wasnt happy with the decision. Our biggest concern is the noise, said Pemberton. They say its going to change. Well see. Pemberton said for about half the summer, resi- dents in the area have to cope with noise from the loudspeakers at Halton Place events. Last year, it started at 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. I dont think anybody would find that acceptable, said Pemberton. Pemberton said 22 area residents signed a peti- tion presented to the Town of Halton Hills requesting it not grant an exemption for events on private property. He said the Towns noise bylaw is very simple, very practical. See HALTON PLACE, pg. 4 GEORGETOWN CALL THE GEORGETOWN HEADQUARTERS 905-877-7818 or 905-877-8375 0% financing on all 2008 models.
