Photos by Jon Borgstrom A Georgetown man and a Brampton man have been arrested by Toronto Police, accused of being the main suppliers of drugs in a network of marijua- na and ecstasy dealing in Torontos downtown core. Toronto Police had earlier wrapped up an investigation that lasted six weeks and led to the arrest of nine people. Investigators say they seized marijuana with a street value of $50,000 and ecstasy with a street value of $3,000, along with a gun in that investigation. The two area men were among the nine arrested. Police are withholding the names of the other seven as the investigation continues. Raids at warehouses and homes in Brampton, Georgetown and Toronto were carried out last Wednesday where police say they seized another $600,000 worth of marijuana, $16,500 in cash investigators say was the proceeds of drug sales, a gun, ammunition and a Taser. Police say the same group was also running a chop shop in a North York warehouse. Police seized two stolen vehicles and automobile parts during the raids. George Vlachos, 37, of Georgetown has been charged with producing marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of stolen property, posses- sion of hash, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of proceeds of drug trafficking. Gary Calisto, 37, of Brampton faces charges of producing marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of pos- session of stolen property.
