Funding Priorities Set for 2008/09 After an arduous decision-making process involving negotiations among dozens of hospital staff at all levels, the top-priority capital equipment list has been identified for 2008/09. At the top of the list for Georgetown Hospital this year is new sterilization equipment for the Surgical Program at a cost of $140,000. The equipment in use now has become so unreliable that continuing to use it risks having to cancel surgeries explains Cindy McDonell, Georgetown Hospital Chief Operating Officer. Other items needed as soon as possible include inpatient beds, defibrillators for the OR and ER and a fetal monitor for our increasingly busy Obstetrics Department. All told, more than $600,000 is needed to meet the highest priority equipment needs at Georgetown Hospital this year. Unique Wedding Gift is First of its Kind In planning her wedding to her fiancrik, Chantelle Leslie decided that instead of setting out wedding favours her guests may or may not truly appreciate, she would prefer to make a donation to support Georgetown Hospital and the Childrens Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Each wedding guest received a card at their table to let them know a donation had been made in their honour a special way to mark a very special day, and the first gift of its kind to Georgetown Hospital Foundation. Thank you Chantelle & Erik! And congratulations! Fore a Great Cause The 2008 Wm. McNally Golf Classic took place Monday, July 28th at North Halton Golf and Country Club. The sell-out classic held annually in memory of William McNally raised $42,000 this year, bringing the total raised by the event to well over half a million dollars. Many thanks to all who took part, especially the organizers of the event: Bill Reid, Jennifer McNally, David & Joanne McNally, John McNally, Peter Creighton and Cory Gentes.
