Acton/Georgetown, Friday, September 5, 2008 21 ENTERTAINMENT McGinley Academy sets another record It is triple wins for a Georgetown dancer, Erinn Brown, 15, of The McGinley Academy of Irish Dance. Erinn, who is not only the current Eastern Canadian Champion and the top North American in the world placing fifth at the World Championships in Belfast, recently took the title for the third year in a row of the North American Junior Cup Champion held in Putnam, New York. Erinn was the first Canadian to win the North American Minor Cup in 2006 and now is the first Canadian to win triple titles with the Junior win 2007 and 2008. She has qualified for the World Championships of Irish Dance that will be held first time ever in North American next April in Philadelphia. Erinn and her teammates are now is now practising for the Great Britain Championships in October to be held in England and the Canadian Champion-ships to be held in November. The McGinley Academy is very excited to be traveling to the Great Britains this year with 11 dancers, with some as young as 8 and 9 having their first experience of dancing internationally. These young dancers have proven their abil- ity to competed internationally placing among the top Canadians at the North American Championships this sum- mer held in Nashville, Tennesse. The teachers of the McGinley Academy, Clair McGinley Faloona, a former Canadian champion and her sister Roisin McGinley McLafferty, a former star with Lord of the Dance were delighted with Erinns win. Erinn works very hard and is a wonderfully talented dancer who is a pleasure to teach. We have a wonderful group of girls and look forward to developing many more champions. Kayla Ruggle, 9, Simone Faloona, 9, and Brianna Wilson, 8, are getting ready for international competition. Simone and Brianna will be travelling to the Great Britains Championships for the first time.
