The walk was inspired by Georgetown resident Lauren Boyce who came to ErinoakKids at the age of nine after suffering a paralyzing stroke. She left years later a capable young woman determined to help the organization that helped her. The Stroke of Power begins at the Halton Hil ls Civic Centre in Georgetown, then proceeds along Guelph Street/Highway 7, turns south on Winston Churchill Boule- vard, and finally heads east along The Collegeway to finish at the ErinoakKids original site at 2277 South Mil lway in Mississauga. The full walk is 28 kilome- tres and begins at 8 a.m. If you want to walk less than that, join the group in mid-walk for the last 14 kilometres at the halfway point at Maple Lodge Farms (8175 Winston Churchil l Blvd. , north of Steeles Avenue) and watch for the walkers, with Boyce in the lead.
