The busy stretch of highway was closed for several hours due to the accident investigation and another fatality occurred later that morning when two transport trucks collided near the Ontario Provincial Police roadblock. At about 4 a.m., police responded to a report of headlights in the south ditch of the eastbound 401 and located a car with extensive damage. Two adults, who hadnt been identified at press time on Tuesday, were fatally injured. A preliminary investigation immediately fol- lowing the accident indicated that another vehicle was involved in the collision and had left the scene. The suspect was found in his vehicle about five kilometres east of the crash scene at the Flying J truck stop and resisted arrest when approached by police. Officers on patrol in the area at the time knew from reports that they were looking for a transport that would have considerable damage and they were able to locate the vehicle a short time later, said Const. Christine Hunter of Middlesex OPP. Stefan Fogiel, 61, has been charged with two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an acci- dent causing death, resisting arrest, failing to maintain log books and failing to have a pre-trip inspection. Smoking can cause permanent damage to your body. Once a person starts, it becomes extremely tough to quit. And did we mention all that cash youll be blowing in the process? So, if youre tempted to start, ask yourself, Is it worth it?
