Photo by Eamonn Maher The Georgetown Rebels and Christ the Kings Jaguars each secured first place in their respective Halton high school senior boys volleyball divi- sions with match victories in mid-week. Both maintained perfect records heading into the final match of the regular season, as 10-0 CtK broke a first-place tie in the Volpe Division by knocking off previously unbeaten Robert Bateman 2-1 on Tuesday in Burlington. The senior Rebels, meanwhile, locked up top spot in the Richardson Division by beating guest Abbey Park 25-11, 25-16 on Wednesday to improve to 9-0, with their season finale Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas. Georgetown captain Ricky Davids has been out of action with an abdominal injury but coach Kyle Stewart hopes to have him back for the Halton playoffs. The Jaguars, meanwhile, will tune up for the post-season at the Oakville-Trafalgar tourney this weekend. CtKs juniors dropped their first match of the campaign Tuesday at Bateman in three sets. FIELD HOCKEY: With Georgetowns junior girls set to play in the HSSAA quarterfinals against Aldershot on Thursday afternoon, the senior Rebels and Christ the King completed their season at a tournament in Milton on Wednesday. The two Georgetown teams met in the prelimi- nary round and played to a scoreless draw. Tonya Vanderhart put the Rebels through to the champi- onship with the lone goal in Georgetowns 1-0 victory over TA Blakelock in the semifinals, before they were edged 1-0 by EC Drury in the final. Goalie Jasmine Olah was named tournament MVP for allowing just one goal in five games. Coach Jim Hall said Michelle Hannon, Claire Buxton and Natalie Meek also played well throughout the tourney. As well, four local players were selected to play for the Richardson Division all-star game Nov. 6 at EC Drury in Milton.
