Intent Cougar Harrop Art Gallery Highbush Cranberries Cardinal 16 Acton/Georgetown, Friday, November 9, 2007 ENTERTAINMENT As the William Mill in Glen Williams prepares for its Tiny Treasures Christmas show and sale, The Independent & Free Press is running a series giving readers a glimpse of the most valuable treasure of all the artists. This is final story in the series. The wonder of art in-the-making is experienced vividly at the Glass Studio. Watching the glass blow- ers shape hot glass from the furnace into beautiful pieces of usable tableware or decorative art/sculpture is fascinating. The glass blowers were the first group of artists to move into the Mill created over 10 years ago by local entrepreneurs, Doug and Mary-Lou Brock. Now, the three historic buildings that com- prise the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre Gallery and Studios embrace an inspiring and supportive community of about 30 artists. The Tiny Treasures Art Show and Sale begins with a public reception, Saturday, Nov. 17, 12-5 p.m., and continues until December 24. It offers a festive air to the discovery of the variety of artistic media and styles of the Mill artists. Completed work by guest artists will also be available for viewing and purchase. The artists are pleased to speak about their art and to share their passion. They hope visitors find some- thing for themselves, or someone else, in which there is a spirit connection and appreciation of the artist and the artistic process. The Tiny Treasures event allows families and individuals to experience art first hand, to purchase items that are like no other, and to give a gift that holds meaning beyond anything that is manufactured. The setting of the Mill provides peaceful shopping and a variety of wares including designer clothing, jewelry, pottery, paintings, digital art, photography, wood carvings, stone sculptures and blown glass. Most of the artists are career artists. They have many awards among them and many have work displayed in illustrious places around the world. The opportu- nity to meet such acclaimed artists that live and work in our community, and to enjoy the treasures they create, is a gift in itself.
