The man was arrested Wednesday morning when a Halton officer on surveillance near Pineview School on Five Sideroad spotted the vehicle that matched the description of the one seen by witnesses during the incidents. Police had received a report that shortly before 2 p.m. Oct. 25 a man in his 40s wearing a fake mustache and appearing to try to make himself look like a character from the kids show Lazy Town was seen driving through the parking lot at Pineview School. He was dangling a blue teddy bear out the window of a large greyish-brown SUV while his stereo was blaring. Police were investigating another report of a man who was seen shortly after noon that same day wearing a fake mustache and blue bandana while driving a large beige SUV in the parking lot of Holy Cross Church on Maple Ave. He was talking to a young girl. Another incident occurred at Pineview School Oct. 31 shortly after 1 p.m. when a man wearing full white face paint and a black cowboy hat with purple glitter around the rim, beige pants, and a blue shirt was seen approaching the Kindergarten area. He was in a beige SUV and a witness obtained a partial licence plate number. Police investigation later determined that only the two incidents at Pineview School were actual- ly factual. Halton Police worked along with Halton District School Board, Halton Catholic District School Board and area French and private schools to ensure the safety of children at school. Letters were sent home to parents informing them of the incidents. There was an increased police presence around area schools and beefed-up supervision of children by school staff. Both Halton Police District One Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit worked on the investigation and at about 11:50 a.m. Wednesday a Halton offi- cer saw a vehicle near Pineview School matching the description of the one seen by witnesses in the incidents. Several officers stopped the vehicle and identi- fied the man driving as responsible for the recent incidents. Charged with two counts of mischief is Dennis Enns, 41, of Cordingley Cr., Mississauga. Enns is to appear in Milton court on Dec. 11.
