Lynda Pogue Georgetown artist Lynda Pogue will be participating in Beyond Borders: Exhibition of Fine Art from Canada at the Agora Gallery, Chelsea in New York City. Scheduled to run from October 1-21, the collection will feature a captivating selection of Lynda Pogues inspirational works. Pogues work may be seen on http://www.agora- gallery.com/ArtistInvite/Lynda_Pogue.a spx Barbara Ariss-Stroh-Wasser Barbara Ariss-Stroh-Wasser of Georgetown will exhibit her artwork in another solo show at the Meadowvale Theatre in Mississauga from October 1 to November 1. The theme of the multi-media exhibit is the synchronization of colour and texture in search for the fourth dimension. The exhibit will feature new work and selected pieces from the recent exhibit at the Halton Hills Cultural Centre, and special pieces from the previous year. I hope to evoke happy feelings and other positive emotions with most of the pieces, and with others thoughtful questions in regards to our human existence today and in future on our planet, said Ariss. She says that she is at the beginning of a search for new solutions, and hopes to find them step-by-step. Sonja Mortimer Sonja Mortimer of Acton who spe- cializes in abstract and realistic painting is participating in a four- women exhibit, Passion: A Common Thread at the Paul Morin Gallery in Rockwood, from Oct. 2-24. The opening reception will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5, noon to 5 p.m. The Gallery is located at 120 Main St. S. in Rockwood. The subject matter of my art is essentially landscape reinterpreted, altered or transformed which reflect those momentary glimpes of won- der, said Mortimer. Joining Mortimer will be sculptor and painter Rosalinde Baumgartner of Hillsburgh, abstract painter Lucille Weber of Inglewood and fibre artist Sonia Bukata of Erin. Our common thread is our pas- sion for the work we do, which is like- ly born of our European heritage. We all moved to this area for the serenity and the nature and now spend our days search for joy, said Bukata. Proceeds from a silent auction will be donated to the East Wellington Advisory Group, an organization dedicated to serving the needs of the community.
