BRENT MARSHALL Fire Chief FROM THE OFFICE OF THE FIRE CHIEF As we reflect back over the past 10 months, I am proud of the accomplishments of the Halton Hills Fire Service. We placed a concentrated effort on fire prevention, inspection and enforcement as well as public education. While we are well aware of the certain safety precautions, we need to become more prudent in practicing and implementing them. Most residential fires are caused by human carelessness that is both predictable and pre- ventable. As a community, we need to work together in the elimina- tion of fire tragedies and occurrences. This can be achieved by prac- ticing safe cooking, better smoking habits and more concerted effort in our day to day activities around the home. Construction has begun on the new Maple Avenue and Headquarters Stations. The two new stations will further enhance the service to our community. Staff is eagerly looking forward to moving into the new facilities at the end of May 2009. We are into the regular budget exercise and senior staff are work- ing together to ensure that our residents are safe and secure. This has been an exciting year of positive changes. We look for- ward to 2009 and continuing to work as a proficient team of dedicat- ed professionals serving the residents of Halton Hills. HARRY OLIVIERI Chief of Prevention & Public Education Chief Olivieri oversees the day to day activities of the Fire Prevention and Public Education Divisions. Olivieris responsibilities also include the upkeep and maintenance of the municipalitys Emergency Preparedness Plan.
