Photo by Jim Robinson There are some visual external changes for 2009 that start with differ- ent grille and front bumper designs to distinguish the Base and Sport models from the Limited. Fog lamps found on the Sport and Limited are not available on the Base. The outside mirrors are heated and now feature integrated turn signals. The fender-mounted antenna on the 2008 has been replaced with one on the roof that looks better and reduces cabin noise. At the rear the door-mounted full- size spare on the Base and Sport now has a moulded plastic cover instead of fabric, while the Limited retains its hard shell tire cover. Depending on exterior colour, there are three choices on the inside. Except for the Base, premium cloth is used on the seats . There are packages that include leather seating, JBL enhanced sound system, 17-inch alloy wheels and a DVD-based navigation system. The driver and passenger have bucket seats, while the second row is a 60/40 split/fold. My co-driver is taller and just about as wide as me and spent part of the ride portion of the launch in the back seat where he said he had lots of room even though I had the drivers seat back all the way. Having said that, I would have used more seat travel, but it helped that the RAV4 has a tilt/telescoping steering wheel. With the second row flat, there is 73.2 sq ft (2.07 sq m) of cargo space.
