This Project Update is to announce that Halton Region is proceeding to Phases 3 and 4 of a Schedule C Municipal Class EA Study process for the Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatement Plant Expansion. The 2008 Master Plan Update completed Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class EA Study process and provided a review of the need for the project, an assessment of the alternative solutions for meeting wastewater servicing needs, and a description of the preferred wastewater servicing solution. The Schedule C Class EA Study will complete Phases 3 and 4 of the Class EA Study Process and will include an assessment of alternative conceptual designs and layouts and implementation concepts for achieving the capacity expansion, a detailed evaluation of environmental impacts and mitigation measures, and preparation of an Environmental Study Report (ESR). The ESR will be made available for a mandatory public review period at the end of the Class EA Study process. A vital component of this study will involve consultation with interested stakeholders including the public and regulatory agencies. Two Public Information Centres (PICs) will be scheduled during the Schedule C Class EA Study to review how decisions will be made, present the alternative conceptual designs that will be considered, review the assessment of environmental impacts and mitigation measures, answer questions and receive public input. Details of the PICs will be advertised at a future date. A Mid-Halton WWTP Citizen Advisory Committee, consisting of community representatives and members of Regional Council from the Town of Milton and the Town of Oakville will be formed to meet regularly with Halton Regions Project Team (see the separate advertisement in this issue soliciting community representatives for this committee). ? R A F K M R R A M K ? 31 10 08 2 Acton/Georgetown, Friday, October 31, 2008 The dreaded shootout came up again in a big soccer match for Georgetown Souths Jonty More, but the 16-year-old goalkeeper was on the happier side of the result this time around. More, a Grade 11 Christ the King student, is the starting goalie for the Oakville Gunners under-16 elite team, considered one of the top clubs in Canada for its age group. The Gunners won a major international tournament in Dallas, Texas earlier this year and also captured the Ontario Youth Soccer Leagues under-16 regular-season title, but were nosed out by the North York Azzurri of last months Ontario Cup championship in a shootout. The Azzurri went on to represent this province at the Canadian Soccer Associations Club Nationals in Sydney, N.S. and finished fourth. By virtue of their OYSL victory, Oakvilles under-16s qualified to face a team from Lachine, Que. in the Ontario-Quebec Cup challenge event at Mississauga Hershey Centre fields recently in a two-game series. Of course, a penalty shootout was required after the teams were tied at the end of the weekend. More was chosen by his coach to be a penalty-taker as well as the keeper and he scored on the Gunners first attempt. Neither side missed on their next four shots and then More blocked the Quebec sides fifth try to secure the win. More sparks SO win
