Sports & Leisure, Friday, October 31, 2008 7 ENTERTAINMENT The Source of the Song 12 acoustic songwriters concert will take place at the Glen Williams Town Hall tomorrow (Saturday), 2-5 p.m., host- ed by local songwriter Bruce Madole, and featuring original songs per- formed by three special guest song- writers: Suzie Vinnick, Allister Bradley, and Jason Barry. Winner of multiple awards for her songwriting, singing, and instrumen- tal work, Vinnick is just returning from an East Coast tour with her brand new CD, Happy Here. Singer/songwriter Allister Bradley has released two CDs, including award nominations for Canadian Smooth Jazz Songwriter of the Year (2006) and a Toronto Indie Music Awards nomination for Best Male Performer. Allister is a staff instructor at the Humber College Summer Songwriting Workshop, and also works as a producer, and film com- poser. Songwriter and guitarist Jason Barry has won numerous awards including Guitarist of the Year, and has toured as a sideman with such artists as Aaron Lines and Jason McCoy. Weve always talked about the magic that happens when songwriters perform their own material its the reason for this series, says Madole. However, I am always ecstatic when I can bring together such a stellar and talented group of guests. You just know that sparks are gonna fly! Tickets for the event are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. They are available at Studio 7 or at the Williams Mill Gallery, 515 Main Street in Glen Williams. Georgetown artist Lynda Pogue (centre) discusses the unusual techniques she uses for one of her mixed-media paintings, Pulsing, on opening night of her exhibit at the Agora Gallery in New York City earlier this month. The exhibition, called Beyond Borders, featured 10 artists from across Canada. Last year two of Pogues paintings were sold one of which was sent to Israel. Pogues work will continue to be displayed until the end of November. Photo submitted Local artist has NYC showing Songwriters featured in Saturday concert
