I have left a comment with this site previously about Chapel Street Public School.
I was student that attended Chapel Street Public School as a grade 5 & 6 student.
It was officially called Chapel Street P.S. at that time and I am living proof of that testament. There seems to be some confusion as to the name of the School. As history was not my best subject as a child, I may have missed a previous name but when it was demolished it was Chapel Street Public School and I believe the Principal's name was Mr. Stein. I had another (pet) name for him that we used when we referred to him among our peers.
It was a serious piece of history that I cannot believe was allowed to be demolished. It was the oldest Public School in Ontario and possibly Canada at time of demolition. I guess, I wasn't alone when it came to the importance of history at that time. As you can see though, my interests have changed.

I attended Chapel Street Public School from 1959 through 1963 (gr. graduating class of 1963), from grade 4 through grade 8. Grade 4 teacher was Mrs Campbell, grade 5 was Ms Stull, grade 7 was Mrs Evans (I was 'accelerated' from grade 5 to 7), and grade 8 was Mr. Val Stein and Mrs Silk. Mr. Stein doubled as the principal.
We lived on (what was then) the far west side of Georgetown - Ann Street - and walked or biked 1 mile (1.6km) to/from school each morning, lunch time and afternoon. No buses then.

Sorry to discover it was demolished.
