was no ordinary bowling evening It was the Roekwood Bowling Leagues big annual turkey roll night and if scores were indicative few athletes were in top form The turkey roll is always an exciting United Church combined with arbitrarily chosen lay readers from the various congregations to read the traditional Christmas story The choir loft was filled as young children from all the c churches led the singing as well as giving their special rendition of the anthem Christmas Mr and Mrs Bill entertained at a family Christmas gathering end house warming party at their new home at 74 Trelawn Parkway in Welland Ontario during this past weekend at which Santa Claus was the special guest and the holiday fore dinner was delicious Guests for the occasion were Mr and Mrs Douglas McNabb Wayne and Nell Bestward Mr and Mrs Harvey Steven Paul and John of Mr and Mrs Alan Patterson and their daughter Michelle of Guelph and Mr and Mrs Andy Delia Voile of Ontario George and Grace Day are enjoying turned In their workmanship and lesson material to the Home Economics Headquarters in Arthur all successfully passed with high participate At least 13 clubs constituted the approximate count of girls and leaders who participated In the Achievement Day activities at the Memorial Hall with members ranging In age from to years Membership In the various courses Is without fee but It Is the responsibility of the girls entering to pay for their own materials and book costs Many of the local Roekwood Hers have captured honors at the County and Provincial level others have won the Advanced Honor which means that they have successfully completed at leoHt of the achievement courses ln various fields of complslhment Although leaders are at a the Agriculture and Economics Department ln Arthur will In the early spring of be arranging for leaders to take another training school session the start for another such achievement day venture Recommend It Past Assistant leader Mrs John Thomson Is highly enthusiastic about the requisites of such training for young girls and strongly recommends that all young people should participate The necessity of the annual leadership training course applies even to those Individuals who have been instructing members for years because according to the requirements of the Arthur headquarters each course Is unique and standards vary depending on what the particular committee tin charge at that time decides Every member sub scribing must complete the course according to Instruction Such training Is constructive in teaching young people the away quietly last Monday December leaving his wife Forcnce Dean and their three children Frank Leona Mrs P Ripley and Miriam Joseph Roy son of the late Mr and Mrs Leonard He was born ln on date of March 1925 and also survived by his two brothers William of Denton Texas Fred of Guelph and his sister Mary Mrs of Many friends Married In the St Johns Anglican Church on August 1947 he and his family
