Year No 35 ACTON ONTARIO WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY FOURTH SECTION Eramosa drama club wins Wellington festival Friday Squeals of delighted exuberance rang out in the auditorium of the Fergus High Friday night when the adjudicator announced that the winner of the Wellington County Junior Farmers Drama Festival was the dub from Eramosa Commending the directress Mrs Edith McLean of Sum Fun Park for her excellent group situations Verne Shaw the director of the Little Theatre productions said that throughout the play when the girls congregated together the grouping designs were executed with perfection He said that although It is a tremendous challenge far any director to handle such a large cast the Eramosa club had managed extremely well Excellent performance June Thomson of the local portraying well the difficult role of another woman in the play was Bob Kent who was Mrs Brown for the occasion Delightful evening Aa the adjudicator reviewed inree tnc night giving his overall assessment he said that the entire program of performances had contrived a delightful evening and that from the audience reactions he could see it had been well received and enjoyable to all present Mr Shaw felt that with people all viewing the plays each one would have their own individual reactions which in many cases would not agree with his own but that he had Judged the performances from the viewpoints of general overall features and that as an ad it was important to look at a full show and then to zero in with a positive attitude Pleasing settings play groupings and voice inflections father Hubert Jackson portrayed by George Nap showed excellent casting as well as being adroitly acted with forceful derision as a father who is concerned about his daughter welfare Secret Intent The situation which depicted a young girl who had divulged to her mother her secret Intent to marry a young theatre usher was one of Intent In which Susan as Judy Jackson gave vent to her emotion of great love for her future husband by running around with bare feet which were prone to being continually Itchy The maid Amanda cunningly portrayed by Sharon Currie overheard Judy trying out a new part in a dramatic production which producer Barry More played by Grant Mitchell was trying to convince Judy that she should take as the original ac tress in the lead role had lost her voice Tells of calamity on any stage was that of the stage kiss and that to execute one properly and naturally was a feat of art Verne Shaw humourously said that he hesitated to draw attention to the stage kiss as on one and projections He approved of the cast voice changes on a darkened stage but suggested that they should have used more mood preparatory so that the audience would be ready for the adventurous followup as the play progressed Youthful dreams The play was based around the lives of two people In a living room rehashing the day newspaper events and both the husband and wife mused about their past uneventful years hut vocalized on some of their youth dreams of mythical ad venture Into this quiet scene the hero of the play burst into the room and the play developed into a supposedly exciting plat of intrigue with villains Robin Gardner and Allen chasing hero Ron McQueen an attempt to procure the Jewels which belong to heroine Marion Small Surprise ending A scuffle on a darkened stage is enacted with John and Mary played by Marie Skerrltt screaming out and after the lights have been restored and the ERAMOSA junior farmer cast of the Neglected Thomson Yvonne Noble Carol
