meaning We will be meeting many people of other lands but our ship will have about 250 passengers full capacity is around passengers in the peak season and they will be mostly Ontario students In our final week in Rome we will be a part of a group of about 1 BOO Canadian students some university and some high school Just imagine having to arrange to house all those students Fortunately there are university facilities available Including a huge hall where we will all get together for a mammoth dance before we leave for home Indepth study There is something for everyoneonthistrip which takes us by boat from Naples to Cyprus the Island of Rhodes Lebanon Turkey France and Italy It is not subsidized The students finance their own trip which Incidentally is the first midschool term trip There Is no doubt about the value of such an experience and besides It will not simply be a joy ride The students will have projects to do and will write up In depth some aspect of the trip which particularly scene of a dance at Acton High School featuring Inclination A good turnout made this dance a sue cess The group played music ranging from Led Zeppelin to Elvis Presley As the night wore on the group attracted many people in front of the stage to watch The spec tators joined in clapping to the rhythm of the music Judging from the reaction of most of the at tenders the dance was a success J Singleton On Monday March 1 Ha Hon Director of Education J Singleton was guest speaker for the first of a series of Professional Development meetings at Acton High School topic for Mr Singleton address was his recent world tour sponsored by the United Nations Mr Singleton was one of three Canadians selected to company a group of Americans on the tour The cities which were visited and whose educational systems were studied by the group were Geneva Moscow Ankara Beirut Bangkok Hong Kong and Tokyo The slides and commentary provided by Mr Singleton were enthusiastically received by the Acton High School staff A request has been made to the Director to chronicle some of his tour experiences in the Halton Professional Development Bulletin and it is hoped that such an article will be available before the end of this school year Mr Singleton was Interested In the Mediterranean trip some Acton students are taking this week and expressed an interest In meeting with this group upon
