of the and have been sailing along on the sea of life In Acton paying my Just fares and roughing the stormy sessions under the captaincy of town fathers For the past couple of years the captains have had us adrift in the lifeboats as we tossed and rolled on the wave of taxation with the storm brewing stronger and stronger Still in spite of the higher taxation wave we don our lifejacket hopes we can ride out the storm and more tranquil waters He ahead Sitting in the bosun s chairs around the captain s table decisions are made by the mighty nine how to weather the storm and provide the paying passengers with everything a good ship requires Hark Did you hear the cry water water all around and not a drop to drink The captain and his crew emptied the water cooler decided to dismantle it then behold a lust minute decision to assess the passengers for a facelifting of the drinking mug with the proud name Acton Inscribed was made After bobbins around the sea for about a year passengers suddenly felt the thud as the drinking cooler was felled and the name Acton lay on Its side waiting to undergo the hot smoldering torch of the wrecker Once the hat was passed among the passengers to pay for the captain decision Ah at last the storm seemed to subside when suddenly tin gangplank needs re furbishing After polling his works committee the captain learned the Job shall be done no passenger will fall prey to the nasty cracks and crevices in our gangplank say they Now ponders the works committee on what materials to use The decision was made to abandon a permanent long range program of using cement sand and water to form a more concrete base in favor of a sticky messy block mixture called tnrvia A poll of most passengers indicated their strolls down Ihe gangplank when work was underway left a little more than to be desired Is the ship company running short of funds Perhaps the penny pinching crew have lost all but their shirts in the last poker gome Never the less the senior passengers by this time will no doubt be to suruve the small lakes which are bound to imbed In the depressions in the gangplank rolling effect of the new surfacing will be easy to survive after years of being tossed around by the hardy crew But no doubt when the once again needs surfacing children from any kindergarten with on armful of putty can provide a more relinbk smooth approach to the stormy stus on the Students blitz to fight arthritis STATIONERY ST Students from Acton district high school will stae a one hour blitz to collect donations for the Canadian Arthritis and
