December 11 1974 Steeple stucco and stone North Churches were typical of those built by the settlers of rural Ontario Built in the country many were patterned after the Gothic Revival familiar to immigrants from England Scotland and Ireland However not all followed the Gothic architecture some were simple frame meetinghouses The buildings we see today were for the most part built between I84t and 1900 As every community had a remarkable number of builders bricklayers black smiths masons and carpenters the stone brick iron hardware and woodwork Is of high quality workmanship In many cases It was a labor of love with giving of their time and talents to the glory of God Staff photos by Steven Dills
