The Acton Free Press Wed Feb 1975 Scout and Guide news Another first for Acton Scouts and Guides ended in success last Tuesday night The event was the first Scout and Guide banquet held the new Legion Kail Three hundred fifty Beavers Cubs Scouts Venturers Brownies Guides leaders and parents stood as we sang Canada and toasted the Queen A meal or turkey win all the trimmings potatoes and mixed vegetables was served followed by a desert of cakes and ice cream While dishes were cleared away guests all from the wise Guide district commissioner Ewort led the way with a speech stressing the need for parent involvement Division Commissioner Joy Cox said a few words followed by Scout district commissioner Douglas The Guide leaders then made a presentation to three Ac Ion Guides and then Pal Jordan was enrolled as a lieutenant in the second Acton Lompnny Assistant district com missjoncr Murray Harrison went up to he stage next and introduced the guest speaker Bob provincial field executive Ontario for Scouts Mr Taylor gave on excellent talk on the im portancc or promises in our movement He somehow collected numerous Brownies Beavers and Cuba around him so he got them to help him with his speech Smiles were all that could be seen as the program wound up a rousing singsong Many many thanks go out to the Scout and Guide mothers the Rotary Club the Legion and I heir ladles and the numerous other people who helped in making this huge event a grand success Uniforms In school Scouting and Guiding was represented in our schools Friday as members wore their uniforms to
