Tennis Association was established The executive consists of two representatives from each of the four member clubs Meet Ings are held once a month from February to November Purpose of this association is to a coordinate the activities of tennis in the Town encourage inter club competition by providing and regulating Town Wide Tournaments provide players and coaches clinics promote a friendly and social atmosphere among Clubs provide Input and submit recommendations towards the development of tennis facilities In Halton Hills liaison with the Town of Hills Recreation and Parks Department and other associated organizations The president of Hie Hills Tennis Association for the 1977 season is John Da HI son of the Gordon Tennis Club Other Executive members include Gordon Tennis Club Don Gibson Ed Ser Acton Tennis Club John Kavanagh Mike Bullock Emmerson Park Barry Gambles Noel Joseph Gibbons Brian Bussell Bob This year clubs will no longer be operating the courts at Park or Joseph Gibbons Instead the courts will be under the authority of the Tennis Association and Recreation Department with a liaison to the community through the persons listed above Membership for clubs are being accepted now Mem bcrship forms will be avail able at area recreation of flees or the various clubs It should be noted at this time that each Club is required to per cent court play ing lime lo public use There fore it is possible lo play with out becoming a member Anyone 18 years of age or over who joins a tennis club in town pays to the Hills Tennis Association This money is spent to help develop this sport Last year a successful tournament was held in August and it is in the plans of the executive of the Hills Tennis ation this year that this tournament will be continued this summer This weeks column will introduce the ladies working as secretaries for the recre ation and parks department Irene Little Chris Butler and Clarke Both Irene and Chris work out of the area office at the east end of town Irene serves secretary to the director of recreation and the facilities superintendent Chris han dles most incoming calls to this area office as well as handling the secretarial requirements of the recre ation coordinator Chris has worked for tho Corporation for the last years and with the recreation and parka department since February 1976 A resident of Acton in the Acton office Dianne enjoys swimming and riding her bicycle in her leisure time Hills Arts Council This week we will also take a look at community group A meeting was held Sep tember for purposes of Identifying the interest in and need for a united voice in Hills for the perform arts an Arts Council It was clearly evident that a Halton Hills Arts Council was and still is needed for reasons that include provid ing a a cooperative effort to promote cultural oris programs input in advising Hills Council on allocation of Juu arts grants to local groups a vehicle for involving new and concerned in a united effort lo secure adequate facilities for cultural groups d assistance to you as a creative individual or group in applying for federal an d or provincial grants and subsidies you with a clearing house for dates of community events and a reference file on local artists and 1 and you with a quarterly newsletter and calendar of events The Arts Council is presently conducting a survey for purposes of in dentlfying the feelings of our community with existing and proposed facilities in Hon to preparing for the release of their initial arts newsletter hosted an ing lower income families by offering financial aid in the form of loans subsidies and grants How much aid you receive depends upon your household formation income and the monthly carrying charges for your new home All types of new houses are eligible for assistance as long as hey are AHOP qualified by Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation and are sold within the maximum AHOP prices in your municipality Through an AHOP Interest Reduction Loan the first year mortgage payments are reduced to an 8 interest rate An AHOP subsidy of up to 750 is available during the first year of occupancy so
