Clarence of Lindsay got a fourth place prize with one foot nine In 1 of the only local intry In the contest in the heavy horse classification there were five entries Ken MacNellly of Iiemptville clinched first place when his horses pulled lbs Charlie of Smith Creek was second with 10 lbs and a distance of five feet nine Inches Clint Greer of captured third place with 10 lbs and three ft ten tions at the fall fair received their ribbons trophies Sunday afternoon tor the first time points were to talled up right after the judg and so the names of the award winners were known early It was to pre sent the awards publicly his year Ladies board president Mrs Irene Swackhamcr and Mrs Ena Gibson presented the special prizes with Miss Acton Fair Susan adding her congratulations The presentations were made in the arena while the judges were determining the winners of the fiddlers con test Called first to the platform was Susan It 1 Acton who had the most points in flower classes Mrs J S McLean of Streetsville had the most points in homecrafts and also the most in domestic science Kim Lawrence A amassed the high est number of points in the junior section Mrs IB Dim St received the troph and for the most points in crafts and hobbies Mrs Heather had the highest total number of points in nil these classes She received a carafe mounted in silver Winner for canned and pre served products Mrs Brian Hammond 12 Lonejitld was not present Mrs Gibson announced the winners in school Lesley Kenny was present to accept the Vivian Beer trophj for the best in the contest The top students in work classes were not present thc were Jill Morris of the MeKenzie Smith school and Hod Wither of Mrs McLean who brought her entries from has been entering in fairs for 12 years and this Steckley mostpoints in craftsand hobbies Top photos selected The judge had a hard time selecting winning photos In the annual Free Press photo contest but after careful consideration chose what he thought to be the best of the bunch Professional photographer William served as judge and took into con sideration the potential of the types or cameras used for each photo Because the pictures were clearing in the centre Third prize was the Georgetown Pentecostal church at night Rick Gibson won second prize in this category with a scenic picture of a country road leading to nowhere Honorable mentioas go to Joan Morris for her picture of a women reading book Pat for her picture of small child in bed Mr Bormann for his photo of grazing sheep and Wayne for a winter snow scene two children
