Cadets issued awards during annual banquet Georgetown Royal Canadian Air Cadets honored some of their number and the community during the annual awards banquet in the Legion Thursday One of the major awards of the evening went to Ken Heaton He received his gilder wings from MPP Julian Reed Another cadet deserving of wings Eric Gordon was absent from the ceremonies to receive power wings Several cadets were also singled out for their abilities in marksmanship Awards went to exWO I Brad Kruger Gaston ex Oil Terry Hope Alan Vernon exSgt Eric Gordon and Parsons Many parents attended the presentations Officers too were in the limelight Ann Smith was honored for her work in the captains qualification course at the Staff College on Avenue Rood Toronto Second Peter Puchyr picked up two awards He qualified for the rank of lieu tenant during a course at Borden He also got an award for being the best candidate In the course Councillor Pat Patterson was on hand representing Mayor Tom Hill to hand out some awards He said he was impressed with the high calibre of cadets In the group Several certificates were earned by cadets over the summer Sgt Michael Vernon re ceived a document for his work in a twoweek long ground search and survival course at Edmonton Sgt Doug took a three- week course on air studies at Trenton Also at Trenton Cpl Joe Snoj took a six week band course Sgt Julie Shield has her certificate for the six week rifle coach course she took at CFB Borden Other certificate recipients include W Alan Vernon for the six week technical training course he took in electronics at CFB Borden Sgt Ken for the six week long glider scholarship course at Trenton ex Fit Sgt Eric Gordon for the course he took In power flying at North Bay I Allan Dalton for the six week crust and canned apple filling The recipe for pastry was read from our members pamphlets The club members sampled five cup salad and both pies The majority of the club members enjoyed the salad It had a unique flavor with sour cream being used in it Everyone enjoyed the apple pies mode by our experienced cooks We closed the meeting with the 4 H pledge as our guest The remaining tweenies will be enrolled next week by Monica Musselle On November Debbie Fraell a guide leader from Norval came to help out the Second Acton Girl Guide Tenderfoot at a game to help them learn their Guide laws so they can pass part of their tenderfoot test and then be ready for the enrolment in January 1978 As the Tenderfoot girls were playing some learning games captain Vaughn was helping the older girls with
