OUR READERS WRITE Couldnt respond 11 Dear Sir I Mould like to draw to your attention a paid advertisement by the Ha lion Teachers Association that appeared in your newspaper November 1978 This paid ad indicated responses to various questions put to the candidates running for trustees in the Municipal election in Halton Hills It as shown that two candidates gave no responses Acton cares Elizabeth Drive Ontario November 1978 CAKES Dear Editor Six of the local churches have representatives on a committee which is planning programmes for the Ten Days for World Development campaign in This will be the third year that Acton has participated in this countrywide programme and once more this year the Ended with a laugh Milton Ontario Novembers 1978 Mr An item I found of interest in your years ago which appeared in your 1 1978 paper was the account of an accident at the residence of Mr and Mrs Wilson Elmore Drive that took place in November 1958 A humorous point concerning that dent was never part of the report and I now advise of it for the record At he lime I received the call about a stolen car from heading east on Seven Highway I hid a local citizen in custody in the cruiser As you recall Police were a little scarce in those days so I had no choice but take my inebriated prisoner along on the When this stolen cor ran into the resi About the plaza November 12 This Is not true I was never asked or given any document to respond to Had I been given a series of questions I would have gladly answered was acclaimed This article was a public service and as such wa3 a very good service However I do not believe it was also a service to mislead the public or to embarrass anyone Sincerely H B Shcrk Trustee Hills Roman Catholic Separate School Board Tho Acton Free Press Wednesday Nov 15 5 subject is Food with emphasis on the needs of the developing nations This is not a financial campaign it is an educational programme to help people understand some of the root causes of hunger in the Third World Anyone who is interested in obtaining more Information about this programme or helping In any way should contact their own church representative or Mr Com fort 1089 or the undersigned Yours very truly I Clarke dence at Elmore Drive I had to cuff my prisoner to the post on the front lawn and then proceed with he accident the escaped prisoner from who had stolen the car After all was done I sudden rcmem the other man left cuffed to the post on the front lawn By this time the November weather had its effect on his condition and I was abk to then drive him home for the night rather than lay any charge him for his original state He cursed me all the wo saying I tried to freeze him It was serious accident with a lot damage to the house but I ended he night laughing at my friend as I look him home Hub Mori in Milton The Acton Free Press Gentlemen As a resident of Acton for nearly 12 years I think I can consider myself and my family I wish to speak about the proposed Plaza First feel that there was not enough dis given to the pros and cons by the people of Acton The decision was made to scrap it at this time as it was felt by a small segment Plaza Regrets losing billiards would be detrimental to the merchants of the downtown core Well sirs I think hat this decision is harmful to he growth of Acton when we see the anil con trolled building that is going on in our sister municipalities Let us have nn open discussion or meeting on the subject in stead of running a meeting in the at mosphere of a private country club lam ours sincerely Trevor Ho Jeffrey Avenue Nov 1978 Aclon Ontario A Utter lo the Editor In regards to your article headed Hotels behind ball pool billiards banned in your Nov sedition This article was just lot of words that told us nothing I for one would be quite interested to know why the applications for these licences were rejected I see no reason for what seems to be an air of secrecy about this If the licences are refused there should be a reason stated not just on the advice of the police I am not familiar with the way the Hotel or the Dominion Hotel are run but am familiar With the 747 Lounge of Acton I was at one time an employee of Mr and Mrs Blgelow and am familiar with their strict rules regarding the playing of billiards The minors are never allowed to sit with the older teens if they have i drink on the table they are warned about their behavior and language if There is more supervision there thanatan other place have seen I myself would prefer m son to be in the Lounge playing pool than standing on the street corner like so many of the Acton youths do I see no harm whatsoever in the kids playing pool at the I am years old and in all my time working days or nights for the I have never seen any trouble with or had any verbal abuse from the kids that fre quent the 747 to play pool and have their chips and coke I know the kids are upset about the let that they will not be able to play pool I guess it s back to the streets for them A MOMENTS SILENCE is observed at a ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery in honor of those men who died during the wars The monument at the front of the accurate ration formulation If tests show the hay is worse than average we can increase supplements to bal the ration properly In order to formulate rations quickly and the program uses com pulers at the Canfarm Ser vice Agency of Agriculture Canada Using the results of feed analysis the computer calculates a biologically i need ration Mr stresses that these rations are developed to make the best
