knowing since be was a lad of that he wanted to become a minister Father was in his 50b before he became a priest in the Anglican Church He never regretted the valuable years in between Father has just retired as pastor for St Anglican Church after a ministry there of nearly six years It not coincidental that he was also baptized In the same church shortly after his birth In Acton 85 years ago He is delighted to be one of the few priests who have a plaque erected in their church before they are dead En business world The years between have been spent in the armed forces and In the business world and Father feels they helped give him valuable insight into the workings of the human mind enabling him to excel in family counselling in la ter years After being educated in Toronto he had to in terrupt his university course in order to support his family His father had died and these were depression years Along came the wara terrible evil but Mr felt a need toserve He says he feels Canada is the greatest country in the world and The Good Lord would want us to defend the things we believe In He had married Ethel the girl across the road who also taught In Sunday School along side her future husband Three children were raised Bonnie now married to an Anglican in SI Catharines and with three children of her own Paul a carpenter in Hamilton who Is also a weekend musician and Holly a former equestrian married to a rock musician who is currently working with a banking firm and travels a great deal Assisting others While in business world Mr finished his education and could have gone Into the ministry earlier but found he had a talent for earning money he had also become vice president of the company However it the usual story of Lord make me good but not yet Mr and Mrs felt strongly they could do more good for the Lord by using their money to help other young people For years they financed the education of young doctors and priests helping swell the forces of the Lord healers When Mr went Into the church years ago it was People thought I was ready for the man in the white coat giving up my well paying job he comments But he never regretted It and has been ex happy specially when he was asked to come back to Acton and the church where he was As a priest Father was ahvays Involved in community work and Is particularly pleased to have been the one who nudged the snowball in getting the Acton Community Centre going although he gives all credit to Peter Marks Originally Father felt the need was there discussed it with Brian and together with Marks and Dorothy Craig the idea became reality Father sits on the board he was vice- president of the board representative for North Malum on the Victorian Order of Nurses VON board and chairman of the Acton Association Unfortunately a scries of heart attacks twoanda half years ago made It necessary to slow down and community work had to be cut down although Father still does family counselling He was going to go completely into this field until his health ordered something a Utile different Now despite official retirement and the move to an apartment in Milton Father is going to continue church work as parttime assistant to a church in Oakville He also plans to complete three books he has never had the time to finish writing Farewell and tears It is beyond words the way the church congregation has been for two monthsI dldn know people could care that much soys Father Ewlng referring to the way St congregation have feted and gifted he and Mrs since his retirement became imminent You don realize how many peoples Iivls you touch At the Sunday School picnic in June Father was completely surprised by the multitude of presentations from the children little pictures letters and small gifts I love the children my special favorite people are children I ma sucker for kids Other presentations included gifts of considerable magnitude a plaque in the church and his portrait In the parish hall to remember Father I said a lot of farewells I m not ashamed of tears Farewells or not Father Ewing will be back in Acton frequently to visit his church family see how his I love golf He brother and sister Killed in the single car cident on 17 Sideroad between the Sixth and Seventh Lines Trafalgar Road were 16 year old Leslie Ann and 19 year old Nancy Langedyk In hospital are Tommy and Karen Van Sickler Tommy 19 is in Peel Memorial Hospital with facial and ankle injuries and Karen is in Toronto Western Hospital with head injuries She was operated on Monday and is in stable condt
