Centre Optimistic Centre will get the needed dollars to remain open next Social Services Committee will be asked December 14 to approve a financial plan which would keep the Acton Social Services and Information Centre open After the centre moved from the building to the former Gals Pal building on Mill St East where business has doubled because of the more visible location a budget shortfall developed because of increased costs and renovation expenses If the centre doesnt receive some fresh funds between the end of this year and when Its 1963 grant comes from the region in April It will have to close Tor a time It will nave to be closed by mid January at the latest Since the crisis was brought to the attention of tbe region It has been discussed by councillors who voiced support for helping keep the centre open and the valuable service It provides and has been developing a rescue plan which would also put the centre on firmer financial footing for the future Peggie who operates the centre said in an interview that she and board of directors members Peter Marks Lome Doberthlen and Eric Balklnd met with region officials Denis Perlln Debbie Oakley David Szwarc councillor Dave
