last Tuesday there should be more sen citizens apartment buildings A handful of seniors and about other citizens met at the Acton Baptist Church to discuss phase two of a study examining Hal ton Regions services to the elderly Small discussion groups were formed to review the various op tions available to Improve health and social services to the elderly In May of this year the region the which was to Identify the seniors problems and needs Peter Crlchton a representative of the consulting firm of Peat Marwick and Peter Crichton Associates outlined the present Seniors services and came up with several options In regard to housing and modation including Centennial Manor In Milton a forum spokes man Mary Brock proposed that there should be more senior apartments established locally There should also be more extended care facilities in Induced to the region as well said Brock We need this now not ten years down he road con eluded Brock because many seniors dont want to be uprooted front when they specialized care Centennial Manor came under fire as well at the Tuesday forum According to the report the four bed wards and the deterioration of the facilities has made the residence unacceptable to many seniors The discussion group suggested that more options In housing should be made avail able to seniors and more seniors apartments like Squires Lodge In should be considered The forum recommended that the best way to achieve a greater variety of housing would be for the region to establish a nonprofit housing corporation Peddle speaking for the discussion group on the availabil ity and coordination Infor mation an information centre with a common phone number Peddle continued by saying centres like Acton already have a small ser vice but there is little
