THE MAIL BAG Incensed Wants Tennis Free in Public Park 10 Began Court Gentleman I would greatly appreciate It you could publish attached letter To the Council of the Town of Georgetown Dear Representatives whom Some time ago I had the aud acity to suggest to you that perhaps you had made a mis take In passing a bylaw giving the Georgetown Tennis Club whoever they are authority to rule with an iron flat over public property to wit the municipal tennis courts located at Joseph Gibbons park will admit that I flew off the handle too fart after all it la only the taxpayers money that paid for the land the pav ing the fences the nets and so on and on I am certain that Council agrees in a self satisfied man ner that should some poor mort gage laden not be able to pay the dub- fees for himself and bis ninny- nosed kids he should not have tho privilege to play tennis Is it not a fact councillors at least In your minds that those city slickers are not particular ly wanted unless of course they keep their mouth shut and let the old locals show Therefore if the poor Jerk can not pay tho fees lets kick him off his own property What do I mean by bis own property Lets face It George Jerry or whatever your names may be you properly elected representatives this tennis WAS BEST HOLY CROSS ORATOR You know I can actually hear Council members discussion going something like this George What are we supposed to look after tho in terest of those taxpayers between elections Yeah but know George its their money Joe So what If they don it tend the back to the Margret Yeah but know this may bo illegal Joe Legal who cares I am the king of Georgo- and my word Is the tlmate in wisdom Jack- Hey why dont Just send the whole mess the department of parks That is called Passing the Buck Joe- Who cares Jack Hey the of Parks can even sell memberships Who are those Tennis Club Founders way Are you sure they art not Just a bunch of frustrated who never made tho grade In private life and who are now finally seeing their chance to become executives tennis club that is Joe Who cares I care and so do many other taxpayers when we see our tax money being frivolously flushed down the drain because you dont care Perhaps there are not too many people that worry about the injustice being done in regards to the tennis courts but they sure ore worried about other things such as the mobile problem etc etc I would like to fuvuuiuu Councillors When are you go- court is In fact owned by the ling to get off your butts and do taxpayers because they pay what you said you would do for it maintain it and should when you requested to be eke- therefore be able to use it ted without further charge W Bosch Wants Own Choice For Charity Donations Drive Dear Sirs I cannot express my disgust strongly enough at the report discussions of the Helton County Council relevant county grants to charities and other organizations Reeve Morrow and his oily Masson of obviously put up a staunch fight accord to the report carried in last weeks Herald to reduce this pending and to my mind it is unfalunate that they were successful in their stand I suspect that the majority of taxpayers in this county were like myself unaware that over of our money is given to charity and other organiia lions Since in essence the is responsible for these do nations I feel It is only proper that the County Council provide each and every taxpay er with a receipt for Income tax purpose We all our own list of worthwhile charities I am sure and I think it Is grossly of anybody such as the County council to tell me that part of my tax dol lar Is being given to a charity or other organization in which I personally have no interest Some of the recipients nam In your paper last week were no doubt bona fide charities I would be the last person to deny a donation for example Muscular Dystrophy on a personal basis but can some one please explain to me why the Lome Scots regiment needs or the Plowmens As sociation needs In fact I have never even heard of the latter yet I am through the H C partly responsible for its upkeep What a ludicrous si tuation In order to have all the facts before us maybe one of your reporters would look into the situation and give us a comp lete list of the organizations to which we are all donating and the amounts of these donations Catholic Teachers Object to Ul Plan Halton members of the Ont ario English Catholic Teachers Association have met in Ottawa with MP Whiting and MP John Morison to protest sections of the governments new unem ployment Insurance bill Last fall elementary and sec ondary school teachers with the Board of Education held a rally attended by Whiting and Morison to protest the un employment bill BOARDS PAY The bill requires million in provincial education taxes from Ontario school boards as payment to Ottawa of the em ployee premium for teachers unemployment Insurance fund One result of these payments would be an Increase Is taxes levied on home-own- teachers claim Finally maybe in the future we can look forward to county council meetings without the type of unprofessional retorts quoted by this paper last week as coming from
