and ytfura truly at Milton to see fair play at election of officers of Branch Thursday most members of Branch 120 a executive plus prospective members of future executives will be at Branch 197 Acton to sit at the feet of Bruce Collins zone chairman of leadership and development where they hope to learn much about Legion Friday will hold its spring initiation night of new members Sunday April IB is special Bruce Collins has selected the afternoon to have year and year badges presented The presentation will be preceded by a lunch there arc many members to receive their year and year badpes and it is hoped they will all be on hand to bo honoured by the Branch ENGLISH DUMPLINGS The meals for both Friday nights initiation and Sunday presentations v Ill be prepared and served by the men of Branch there is one debatable point about the meal on Sunday wilt Welsh or Canadian dump- lings be served We have put much research into this subject and find Dumplings arc the only authentic ones in be a very eventful day for the sports minded and athletic members of Branch 120 It star ted off very early in the mor and carried on to a late evening finishing up at Branch being entertained by Bob Corey and served a lovely meal of Chilli prepared by Mary sell Getting back to the of the day and sports Branch sent two of the finest dart cams around theso parts Acton and the district dart championships There were no doubts as to what the final out come would be Georgetown A made up of Ken Derose Harry Bottoms Jim Gasktll and Jim ttal lice emerged winners taking home to Georgetown the very coveted district dart champion ihip trophy Georgetown team composed of Art Hill Roy Rudigcr go Rogers Joe Martin and Den Booth came home as run up beaten only by Georgetown A team This is a first as far back as anyone can remember that two teams came out or one Branch and finished the day and tournament as top two teams in district PUT EVERYTHING INTO A great hand and a real is to go to the Legion as a group for the tremendous effort and time put into this event way every event was run and early finish Is proof in itself that Branch Acton put everything into this day A special thankyou must go to the president of Branch Acton and their ladies for a wonderful turkey dinner tournament itself I was run and controlled by dis trict sports officer Murray Hut chinson and zona sports officer Joe of Brampton GAME OF THE CENTURY Now wo must come to the big event of day This being a real all star hockey game that pitted two of Georgetown service clubs against each oth er to see if the youth and stam ina of the younger Kinsmen from Georgetown could outlast skill finesse of Branch super stars The Kinsmen lineup consisted of George their worthy president and top goal scorer Dave MacLeod traitor Georte Doug Ditch field Darts Murphy Fred Harrison Walter traitor Ma and their goal tender who think was imported from of the pro teams who wo also understand should be play for Branch and Grieve KIN WIN This game was well controlled by two of the finest referees in the hockey world today They were none other than Gerry whistles Nosh and Bob cog lecjci Monckton Theso fellows handled very well a rough- tough tamo which under some one else s control would possibly have gotten out of band and into the hot stage 1 might say this game was attended by a great number of spectators The game itself ended up on the score sheet as a 54 victory for the Kinsmen Goat scoring tor the Kinsmen were trick Bill and Walter Mariano Legion marksmen Bob Mac Donald with two Cha pell and Jack Kcmshead with one each A disputed goal in final minutes of play was scor by yours truly Hank Russell This goal was disallowed be cause Kinsmen claimed the Louth brothers and Joe were holding tho Kinsmen on their bench During this game some of the league players showed that old and know how they used to have in their younger days at times looked like his old self as he through tho Kinsmen line- up Chapel sometimes looked like player wo all know he used to bo as ho ted rush- and wo must not forget mention stalwart George Louth as bo almost knocked some of the Kin out of their hockey pants After the game was over was invited back to the Branch where Branch president Norm Ward and comman der Charles Heath presented Kinsmen president team captain George with tho championship trophy After the trophy presentation and festivities Kinsmen and their lovely ladles and the Le gion members and their lovely ladies enjoyed food and dancing BOWLING NEXT Being carried away with hockey I almost forgot that next April 17 will seel our Branch bowling team head for Richmond Hill and the pro vincial finals Teams will play a m Doubles at 130 pm and singles appro ximately p From all thel
