visited with her parents Mr and Mrs Ernest Cable In Lon- a recent visit to Britain Mrs Lily vlew Crescent visited with her sister Mrs James Harding at Wellington County Home In Fergus recently Oil Filter Split Wants Damages M Buchanan 2 Acton submitted a bill for to council Monday for damages to his car on he Line He stated in his letter that ho grader had left two rocks on the road which des- Ite swerving to avoid the oil filter Ho suggested the grader operator should be told to remove large rocks from he road It was turned over to the in surance company THE MAIL BAG Wants Georgetown Walkers Start From Here We feel that this by law is completely unnecessary when there arc already bylaws to regulate the use of land that Is not serviced by sewers and water one needs the ap proval of the Department of Health plus a lot 000 ft 2 The Implementation of this bylaw is an Infringe ment on he rights of prope owners and literally property which may be fine with some of our coun cillors but has a devastating effect on the person who bos bought and paid for his land In anticipation of building a house on it at Some people have bought and paid taxes on this type of land for years with tho hopes of some day selling his meat at a profit which in our free country and freeenter prise system should bo permit- id This proposed by law is so Court Georgetown Dear Sirs I would like to express tho views of many Georgetown par ents concerning the Hon of the Walk do not question the motives or togrlty of merely the practical aspects of tbe walk itself Why must hundreds of parents rise at the crack of dawn to drive their children to Brampton to start tho walk Why cant George town kids start in Georgetown and likewise Nerval or Hut- tanville etc kids start at their closest checkpoint Those kids then finish the walk hopefully back In their own homo town which I m sure Is more mean ingful to them Better this than have the some hundreds of par ents driving again to Brampton In a traffic Jam to find their exhausted children This way the walkers would be spread around the route and the checkpoints never hit by one huge group Secondly I found it expecting a lot o ask theso walkers to pay 30c each way for a bus to and from Brampton if they had no other moans of transporta tion If wants these kids to raiso thousands of for them and still Insists they start at Brampton the kids should at least have a free some changes in these areas are made there will bo fewer participants from here next year I for one would rather see my kids do some constructive work here in town like clean ing up In tho valley or parks or river and bo paid for that than bo part of this inconvenient walk I know my views ore not original but someone bod to put them in writing Sincerely Dorothy A Bodnar bus I would predict hat unless Demand Action On Road Potholes What do you intend to do about tho pot holes on Confed eration Street began a let ter from Leon Deorsley of Glen Williams to council He pointed out the township took the trouble to place a flash ing light where a large hole was but never troubled to fix it Ho told of his son having to spend two nights in the hos pital and receiving stitches as a result of his hitting tbe pot hole while riding his bicycle In conclusion ho stated he was requesting but demand ing action on the rood Council turned it over to tho rood superintendent DID YOU KNOW Now Amsterdam was the carl for New York City SAVE ON THIS SPECIAL Redwood Protective Stain Ideal for Cottage Fences etc EXTRA HEAVYBODIED FORMULA 495 for Inferior or beauty and Easily applied without drips or spatters Enriches wood siding shingle doors paneling IN THE MAIL BAG Many Reasons Opponents Claim Land Freeze Unfair stringent in nature that one could not even ALTER any building or bouse that la al ready built which Is ridiculous Some of us that have signed this letter toko a good deal of pride In our homes and would hope that we can maintain them and yes alter and improve them as we choose not at tbe discretion of some arbitrary board or commission It Is one thing to Imple ment good sensible legisla tion In an effort protect pro perty owners but It is quite an other to do so at the total ex pense of a minority of our tax payers most of whom have llv in town without the benefit of these services and have not complained unduly ever about having been assessed for the servicing of other areas of town We would 10 to know how It Is for the town council to effect chan ges in zoning without giving no tice prior to reading this propo sal in the first place and sub mit that if this by Jaw were ap proved It In fact does affect those areas of town now toned for residential purposes becottse It would their use and permit no house erection at all In closing wo submit that It is up to town fathers to lead the way for tbe benefit of the taxpayer and we look for ward the day when the rest of tho town will effectively as sist us In having services in stalled in front of our property as we arc doing and have done in the post To implement this by law would be a gross miscarriage of social justice those of us who have not yet received benefit of such services CORRECTION Bramptons Newest Carpet Store JACKS CARPET CENTRE ST BRAMPTON The Telephone Number WAS OMITTED LAST WEEK 4512744 THE NUMBER IS New Big Capacity Butler Silage DiitributorUnloader
