the and longhouses and the tents of the campers SUNDANCE Under the enthusiastic leadership of A D C Ed Ryan all the Troops did well The Leaders entered Into the spirit with their feathered headdresses and fringed and beaded costumes The boys outfits showed their skill and Ingenuity In In the costumes of their chosen Indian Tribe Whether the Sun Dance per formed by the Soto Tribe 1st Acton had anything to do with It or not the weather was hot and sunny and the Saturday at programme was well attended by parents and friends The Soto Tribe also executed a tricky Serpent Dance PLUSH BISON 1st the Tribe performed a rilual buffalo hunt with the nylon plush covered buffalo Brett Byers being dragged home victoriously and a Medicine Man stomped and rattled his bones furiously The Kiowa Tribe giant campfire There were skits by most of the Troops and singing and the overflow crowd enjoyed every minute of it D C Gord Douglas and ADC Ed Ryan presented Mrs George Henderson with a Brass Plaque in appreciation of the use of their REAL LEATHER The Rover Crew set up and staffed the First Aid Tent and they did a roaring business bums both fire and sun and in cuts and scrapes In appreciation of their services they were awarded a Gift Certificate to buy equipment for their Crew 1st Acton proud of their towns tannery walked with the award for the best Indian costumes They were of real leather and the envy of all BEST BRAVES Glen Williams won the award for being the Most Cheerful Campers and Ball in af ad for the Best Performance for First Time at a Llmehouse received the Best Troop Award and the nest Teepee Award and displayed Best Scouting Spirit 2nd Georgetown won the award for Cleanliness and Site Setup 1st Georgetown for Best Original Dance Best Spirit Best Loughouse and Best Campfire Skit HEAP FOOD Each Troop provided and cooked their own food and when you hear of breakfasts consisting of two bowls of cereal three eggs and bacon plus toast Its not hard to imagine the quantities of food consumed during the two- day camp On Saturday night D C Gord Douglas and ADC Ed Ryan cooked supper for starving It took them three hours and minutes to prepare the roast chicken disguised as pheasant under the trees Indian corn bread buffalo stew and watermelon cakes It was Scouter Ron Wofen bergs birthday and the other Scouters produced a cake and gifts Scouter Murray Harrison of Acton presented him with a bottomless pot and the Rovers gave him a broken arrow After Flag Break on Sunday morning 1st Georgetown con ducted Ihe Scouts Own a brief worship service Later in the day there were contests in smoke signalling litter races and a lacrosse game It was a great PACK CAMP Georgetown Pack Cubs held their Pack Camp last weekend at Camp Manitou near Campbellvllle Mr and Mrs Ross Colter their sons Jim and Doug and Karen Leonard and Margaret Owen supervised the boys It was an easy happy weekend with swimming periods In the morning and afternoon some work done on a Persona Fitness Badge and a giant Scavenger Hunt or Woodland and Utter Items The Pack had the use of the lodge and ate their meals there Mrs June went along as cook and provided the boys with hearty
