contrary according ft Emerson Lavender assistant director of education There had been some contusion to the board intentions for the school The confusion followed an investigation by the board of a number of small schools the county to deter If they were viable It some of the schools were found wanting in some of the areas studied the alternative would be to close them But Lavender said that was not the case for the School though some of the com residents feared the school would be abandoned Ne Intentions As far ahead as we can see the School will be open one to she he said Though the organization of the school is to be studied next spring there are no Intentions of dosing it The school will be affected only by changes In community population and If there are no major changes the school will remain the same Lavender said be is concerned with some press reports that Implied that the school will remain open due to a reversal of a previous board decision He said that was absolutely not true There was never any decision to close the school he said No Kindergarten Though the school will remain open the board has no intention of providing a kindergarten for Despite a campaign by village residents to establish a kin the board ruled that the 1 kindergarten aged children in the village will be bused elsewhere Lavender said there are two aspects to the ruling First be said of the 12 children involved seven would have to ride the bus anyway The board decided the community youngsters would be better served at Pine view as they have been for the past two years And he said it Is also more economical Too Expensive If we establish a kin dergarten do we have to provide a room tooT he asked He said It would be Impossible to Justify the expense Secondly he said some Norval residents wanted the school to be open for students from kin through grade eight He said that is contrary to board policy The number of students who would be affected was also an Important factor In the board refusal to establish a kin We cannot accept the position that we should run a ndergarten regardless of the number of children Involved he said NORTH REPORT Ontario Provincial Police Officers of the Milton Detach Droit worked a total of hours during the week ending August and travelled miles patrolling loads In their area Traffic tickets were issued to motorists for driving to 8 people while the remaining 10 to School At a Day It will cost more than a day to take Helton County students to school by bus when classes begin next week education officials said public school students will travel miles a day on 1M bus routes at a cost of More than secondary students will cover 3 miles on routes and run up a dally tab of Tor Halton taxpayers Special taxis and buses will
