Georgetown Club Tournament Tilt TOWN HERALD THURSDAY SEPT 16 1971 70 TENNIS PLAYERS VIED FOR 7 TITLES Georgetown Tennis Club recently held a tournament on the Joseph Gibbons Park court with seven clashes open for en try Over TO people participated The first rounds of this knock out competition were played on Saturday August and Sunday These were then followed through and the courts were in use every night except Friday of the following week All games were officially umpired and had linesmen In attendance As Labour Day weekend ap preached It was decided to hold the finals on the weekend of Dcnise Thompson although both Juniors by age fought their way through the Senior Mixed to lose In the semi finals Massar and Thompson again both Juniors because of insufficient enrolment of Juniors entered In the Ladles Novice but were eventually beaten In the finals AT PROMISE All the preliminary rounds were played on the basis of one set The finals were the best of three sets J played three
