SUPER STAR CARRIER new County Council Adopts RepByPop Structure Halton County Council took step towards regional govern Tuesday Oct 19 with a request for revision of the County of Halton Act The revision would Increase Burlington and power on the council The draft of the new Act will be forwarded to the private bills committee of the Ontario legislature Passage of the Act would through a repbypop formula give Burlington four members and Oakville three on a 17 member council On recorded votes voting strength would give the South Halton Town of Oakville and Burlington the same number of votes as the other five municipalities together At present the five smaller municipalities In North Halton have members to four and on recorded votes have a three vote majority over Burlington and Oakville Each of the seven municipalities now has two members a reeve and deputy reeve on the 14 member council The warden will con to be elected by secret ballot among the councillors OPPOSITION The
