GEORGETOWN HERALD T NOV 1971 Page Halton 4H Kids Complete Projects Awards night for member of agricultural clubs on Friday October was another gala affair when recipients and donors of trophies a host of awards and moms dads and friends gathered in St Paul a United Church In Milton for the annual ceremony The evening signals the end of another successful year of work in the county During the past year 108 members enrolled In 149 projects and completed 128 of them for an BO per cent completion These figures indicated a rise in membership In clubs this year an increase in projects taken and a decrease In the per cent completion over last years figure MOST OUTSTANDING Outstanding club member In Halton for 1971 was Bob who received the J Whlielock trophy Hie Halton Peel Pork Producers trophy for the most outstanding Her with under 12 projects completed went to Ken while Peter May won the Claude Bain trophy as the outstanding first year member Premier 4 club of the year was the Field Crop Club Grace Bird won the secretary of the year award In their opening remarks agricultural representative Henry Stanley and his assistant Hugh Cook congratulated all 4H club members for their excellent work during the year and thanked the leaders for donating their time and assistance to the program A special thanks was also extended to the families who hosted the 4H delegates In Wisconsin and Maryland this summer and to Mrs Hazel Held who accompanied the local group on the trip TOP MEMBERS Trophies for the top member in each club were given out as follows Acton Calf Club donated by Nino to the Calf Club he placed and in the 4 Horse Club he placed 3rd Peter placed in tho C section In the Showmandship Class at his calf club Achievement Day and his heifer placed seventh In its class He was third In Showmanship at the Horse Club Achievement Day and his Perch mare was first in her class He placed second in the Junior Section of the Livestock Judging Competition and was third In the Constructed Articles section of the Special Projects handed in He was selected to win the Klwanis of the K Scholarship for the All Breeds 4 Horse Gub being the highest scoring member in this club not to have won it previously TOP MEMBER Ken McNabb most outstanding 4 member with under 12 rejects has made high standings three projects this year In me H Field Crop he placed 2nd in the Grain Section and first in the Forage Section He placed third In the Halton Jersey Guernsey Dual Purpose Shorthorn Calf Ken has completed 10 projects in five Sears all with over per cent It has been In the top three In eight of these projects In his Field Crop projects his hoy exhibit placed third and his exhibit of oats was first In Its class Both his hay and oats placed in the second prize group at Fair In the Jersey Guernsey Dual Purpose thorn Calf he placed third in Showmanship and his Guernsey heifer was a first prize exhibit Ken placed first in the Senior Sect on of the Seed Judging Competition and first In the Senior Section of the Livestock Judging Competition He won the Cash Crop Trophy for having the highest score in the Judging barley and oats the Champion Beef Judging Trophy for being top beef judge the Royal Bank Trophy for having the highest overall score In the Seed Judging competition and the Junior Farmers Trophy for having the highest combined score In seed and livestock The
