Ukn to Write Antique Bug Story Published In New Book by lungs that have been loved by other people appeal to me said Mra Margaret as she sat In an antique armchair and spoke of the many lovely things her home recently had a humorous article The Antique Bug published In The Book of Auctions put out by WardPrice Ltd Toronto I submitted an article to the magazlM Ward Price puts out she laughed I dldn t know they If they WRITE Lipsett has always liked to write To her writing la fun and when she was In high school wrote a weekly column which was carried by the Orangevllle Banner Herald and four other weekly papers She was a student at and Alliston high schools Some of the things that seemed Important then now seem so funny But I got to go on a lot of trips with older students because of my column she said Mrs Lipsett Is the daughter of Emma and the late John A and Is married to She Is the mother of two youngsters Stephen and Tiffany Her Interest In antiques has led to the purchase by her and her husband of the property north of Georgetown of he late Col BaUantine The house Is con tructcd of stone from the site and there Is an uncompleted guest house and various other stone buildings on the property Even the dog house Is stone LARGE GARDEN Large gardens In front of the originally tended by a gardener were overgrown but the are gradually cutting out the undergrowth and clearing the flagstone paths It really beautiful here in the spring commented Mrs Lipsett Mrs is redecorating the house semi medieval style The ceilings of the house are fairly low and the living room has beams across the ceiling A fireplace In the llvingroom Is being rellned with firebrick and a wall has been torn out to enlarge the room Furniture is largely antiques from chairs and tables to vases and pictures we buy most of our things at auctions Mr Lipsett said over a cup of tea We like unusual I people to feel been away from home not to Just another version of their own Though the house gives a feeling of cosyness and tlnyness there is nothing cramped about it There is another fireplace upstairs Perhaps the most inexpensive and unusual Item for Its size Is a monstrous breakfront which the got for S3 It was too big to bring out so the auctioneer Just asked tor bids We even know what we were bidding on The breakfront has a large mirror beautifully carved panels brass handles and a coat of arms carved In the top It touches the ceiling and takes up about eight feet along one wall One discovery made at the house was in the kitchen The plaster was In poor shape so we though we But when we got the walls stripped we found they were pine under the plaster Mrs Lipsett said Now Mrs is carefully sanding the walls and filling nail holes She wants to install a stained glass window in the kitchen When she finishes the house which will be some time as they are redoing nearly everything she plans to work on the completed guest house ARTICLE PLANNED Then I eventually want to write about renovating from the humorous angle she said I take notes of the comments people make without them knowing Whatever she chooses to do Mrs Lipsett will obviously at tuck It with as much energy and determination as she does the house Milton Man Quilt Winner A quilt offered as a prize In a lucky draw sponsored by the Friends of the Museum was won by a Milton man Monty Allen Bronte
