Sunday January a special recognition service of the new United Church charge was held In United Church for the four congregations in the charge conducted by Rev Bruce Besley Chairman of Peel Associate minister of St Pauls United Church Brampton The service was In recognition of the new charge composed of Meadowvale Home and United Churches also in recognition of the work done In the charge by Rev W Ridley and Rev Ken Jull and of Mr J till s work as hospital visitor at Peel Memorial Hospital Brampton Special music was provided by the Junior choir which Included a duet by Donna Ridley and Wayne Laldlaw and a trio by Christine Pomcroy Kelly Frost and Donna Ridley Most families stayed for Ihe lunch and a social hour which followed the service to get acquainted with other families within the charge A real treat was in store for about music lovers of the district on Sunday evening January when the voice student chorale which was composed of a combination of two choirs from the Ontario Bible College presented an evening of sacred music at the Presbyterian Church Norvai ted by Mr and Mr Adams During the excellent program the well trained choir sang seven or eight selections They opened with Come Christians Join to Sing and closed with Create In Me A Clean Heart O Lord The choir directors sang a duet of I Waited for the Lord Other numbers were by a female trio a male quartet They were accompanied on the organ by a young lady from Hong Kong also at times by the piano the trumpet and Ihe Members the choir were billeted out in twos for dinner before the service among the Union and congregations About 10 teenagers from St Paul Anglican Church Sunday School with their teacher Mrs F Booth visited The Sister Hood of St John the Divine convent at on Sunday January leaving the church about and arriving home about They toured the building and were interested in the church vestments They attended Evening Prayer there after which they had supper with the sisters before returning home Mrs McLean School Winter Carnival Coming Recent activities at Norvai Public School include a trip to Casa Toronto by Grades 3 and with their teacher Mils Edwards and other chaperones A Christmas concert was held in United Church basement at which all the pupils participated and a flood number of parents Prior to Christmas a staff dinner was held at Mohawk Inn attended by about which in eluded husbands and wives of the teachers There are a few parent volunteers assisting the teachers with various activities with the children several days a week The hot dog days are con tlnuing every two weeks where the profits from the sale of the hot dogs go towards school trips and the Winter Carnival Plans for another Winter Carnival are now underway and Ihe staff are looking for parent volunteers to assist in this protect which they hope to hold early In February while there is Ice for skating and snow for the snowmobiles Mr Ciglen principal of the school and the pupils now have the outdoor skating rink In operation and the children of the community are enjoying skating and hockey as well as learning the responsibility of maintaining the rink which includes flooding and keeping
