critlcizera of this column claim that we lack- and simple human Interest It Is because of these comments we are going to conclude the column each week with a student eye view of life at GDHS It is- meant to be humourous to let student readers laugh at their own misgivings and surroundings and to allow the readers who are beyond high school to look back and recall the days when they were in high school Any insinuations are meant comically and lightheartedly not critically and snould not be taken as serious In the mornings of weekdays students must depart from home for a day of laborious mind bending and hand straining scribbling They arrive in various ways some in their own cars others in the steel grey Jostling buses from far flung areas of the remote countryside and still others by their old reliable feet In they come Hooding the school with people Seventeen hundred of them arrive within half an hour to go about their various tasks and filter to their home rooms for attendance The soothing strains of acid rock How through the halls as thick coats muddy boots replace bent mangled books in the crowded undersized lockers When the daily schedule is Interpreted and the books are gathered the students find their friends and Join the growing mob in the Just as the euchre games reach their peaks and the noise level becomes unbearable the bells clank and send the waking students to their home rooms The dally ritual has begun SWF FT CHANTING At seven minutes to nine a delicate nasal voice sweetly chants Clear the halls please Gear the halls in much the same way one would announce an airraid Two minutes later the students all in their designated rooms it continues to read the an noun cements always begin with Good Morning Today is day three in our schedule and these are the morning announcements Occasionally there are no announcements The day numbers of course change with the schedule The following announcements usually succeed in making the most interesting scores or activities as dry as the desert sands The thoroughly dlsen chanted students chat to each other as the announcements keep coming and coming Often there arc guest speakers on the an nouncements always at the end and usually they are totally inaudible One can never tell when the announcements are finished due to the Hitchcock style employed by the announcer for ending his speeches After the announcements are piped over the entire P A the students are counted like eggs and dictated written an by their home room teachers This is also the time for gift exchange The home room gives the students notices of guidance appointements or overdue library books and memos from the vice principal students return surprised and guilty looks At exactly nine clock the five minute home room
