Dealing Wlih Children Parent Educator Stresses Basic Human Relationship Mrs Jean Harrison from the Toronto Association of In dividual Psychology addressed the Maple Nursery school parents at a held at the school last week Mrs Harrison s field is parent education with emphasis on that particular relationship which exists between parent and child She is especially interested in promoting the establishment of study groups among hose who are willing to meet with others in order to discuss various ways and means of dealing with children Mrs Harrison began the evening by introducing those town is contributing to water quality obi ems in portions of the 16 Creek south of the reservoir on Ontario Ministry of Environment report revealed last week The report commissioned by the Region Conservation Authority which supervises the creek system and reservoir states that the problems arise from anaerobic conditions Hack of which characterize the bottom water of the reservoir during the lalt summer period IFltMWfNT The severity of the problem in the Scotch Block Reservoir the report warns would in that the bottom anacrobism may be a correct dertaken The report notes that the impaired water con compare to those of a small municipality at the same site discharging inadequately treated wastes to the stream The Authority is expected to consider at its March general meeting a recommendation from Its water control advisory board to purchase a portable compressor to be used to pump air to the bottom of the creek to break up the anaerobic con dltions The reservoir a relatively new addition to the Authority conservation system was built between and 1971 for flood control purposes It covers about 130 acres and Its deepest point measures meters Concerns over the water quality of the reservoir and creek system originated In June 19 1 with the detection of hydrogen sulphide odors mediately downstream from the reservoir ministry tests found the deepest portions of the reservoir to be quite stagnant The tests showed that lack of dissolved oxygen in the water leading to stagn was first detected at a seven meter level and in creased at deeper levels High School
