Thanksgiving were Mr and Mrs Dennis Lock Toronto Mr and Mrs Watson and family Bramalea Mr and Mrs Chaplin and family Georgetown Mr and Mrs J Bailey and family travelled to Parry Sound to see the fall colors this past weekend Our own colors at Silverwood were vivid this past weekend Silverwood WI held Its October meeting- on Thursday evening at the of Mrs Gothe It was a public relations meeting Twelve members were present and one guest who was speaker for the evening The meeting opened with Mary Stewart collecting and roll call was answered by naming some good quality of the member to the right Discussion took place con lions that are to be voted on at the annual convention to be held In November and many points were brought out Mrs gave a full report on district directors meeting held recently in Milton Mrs Nellls district President gave as her talk Pennies tor Friendship a special collection was taken up by members through the year The A C WW works In many places around the world with help where it Is urgently needed using this fund A social half hour ended the meeting The displays at the fairs were attractive and Silverwood and Milton tied for first place at Georgetown Alicia F Scott STEWARTTOWN On behalf of the community we welcome Mr and Mrs I Wayne Swarti who are now residents at the former Mileham farm on the Seventh Line below the village Mr and Mrs Swarlz are former I residents of the area Mr and Mrs have moved to their new home on the Fifth Line south of village The have been residents of this area for over half a century and we are leased they are close enough continue their association with the village and we wish them much happiness In their new home They wish to ex press their gratitude to all neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted at the time of their sale St John Church Guild hejd a most successful rummage sale Saturday morning and although it worked hard the results were rewarding Game Night for all ages has been weir attended each Thursday night at St Johns Church and a welcome in vitation is extended to anyone wishing to attend There is no charge Mr Hammer very kindly took the members of Women Institute on an In teres ting conducted tour of his furniture factory on Armstrong Ave In Georgetown on evening October 11th After winning the numerous styles of the finished products he took the women through the workshop area demonstrated and explained the machines involved and they were able to watch the procedure of some of the workers as they assembled the products On behalf of the women Mrs Harris thanked Mr Ham for his kindness and the thorough replies he gave to the many questions The regular meeting followed at the home of Mr and Mrs Robert Thorns with the president Mrs J Staddon presiding Mrs Murray Thorns who had been elected Treasurer In April found she was unable to continue the office and Mm M Boettcher was elected to position Mrs Robert Harris Mrs W Humphreys and Mrs Fred Armstrong were charge of the program
