the girl guide company on November Heather McGarry Susanne Scott Tammy Mackey Entertainment Toll owed the ceremony and refreshments were served Helton Divisions annual dinner was heldon Novembers at United Church on Trafalgar Road The five guiding districts which the division encompasses are Acton Georgetown East Georgetown West Credit Valley and Milton A dinner was prepared and served by the Womens Auxiliary Among the special guests at the head table were Mrs Jean Henderson Area Com missioner and Gordon Douglas Scout Commissioner The special guest speaker was Rev Bob Rumbali Minister of the Ontario Mission for the Deaf who gave a most in formative talk on the everyday problems being faced and the progress being made to Im prove communication with the deaf By his own example of using sign language as he spoke as well as the way he lives his own life Mr Rumbali pointed out he importance of visual communication was well as the spoken word and the im portance of living to the best of ones ability as well as preaching the right thing to do The division presented a small donation towards the new communication centre to be built for the deaf in Toronto Mr talk was truly inspiring to the In their work with brownies and guides and he was given a standing ovation by all those present At the annual dinner Mrs S recently resigned of Georgetown East Brownies and Guides presented with a small gilt in appreciation of tier many years of untiring efforts to assist in the district in a variety ways DON Division has recently made a donation to the West African Famine Fund Relief through the Christian Children Fund Canada At the time or the World Con ference of Girl Guides which was held in Toronto last spring guiders from West Africa en fold the hospitality some of our PART The Georgetown Brownie Pack held It annual Hallos ten pari recently Best costume prizes were awarded to Cathy Kathy Broom head and Joanne Powell Commissioner Joy Cox and past Brown Sheila Pan were special guests at the pariv The evening started with a Treasure Hunt then some games were played and the big moment came dunking for apples The party was enjoyed by all The following Saturday the Pack went on an outing to Game Farm There was a nature film shown the trails The first trail was a mite hike The guide pointed out nests and homes of different animals and birds Then it was back to the compound for lunch The Brownies assisted by Brown Owl helped assemble a first aid kit needed such hikes I After lunch the Pack went on another nature hike This one was miles The Brownies stopped observe such things as the year old trembling aspen tree a lime kiln rail fencing dutch elm disease swamps water fowl habitats and then they climbed to the top of the observation tower to view the Once back at the compound the Brownies gathered tender kindling and fuel to start a fire With assistance from the fathers a fire was built Then each Brownie lit a match to start the fire Once the fire was going the group formed a large ring and sang their Brownie song The end of the outing came with each Brownie feeding the farm animals a handful of grain and hay The group returned home tired and weary but full of new and good experiences PARADE Despite the cold weather on Sunday November ap proximately 150 Brownies Girl Guides Rangers and Guiders marched in the Day Parade A Brownie and a Girl Guide from the
