FIRST ANNUAL THE HERALD Wednesday DEC 19 Georgetown Figure Skaters Hold Club Competitions The Georgetown Figure Skating club Us first annual club competition on Sunday afternoon at Georgetown Memorial arena In the national test badge division Eddie Howard placed first with Lynn Blackstock second The Royal Canadian Legion branch donated a trophy for this division which presented to the winner by Tony Corbett In the mixed dance com petition the competing pair of David Watson and Karen Blackstock won the trophy presented by Terry Peers on behalf of the Georgetown Lions club In the beginner free skating division Jo Anne Shannon placed first Mlcheele second and Kelly Barber third Julie Freestone Helen Gall Shanks Wendy Barrager Christie Lorl Hen derson Colleen Howard and Sally Murphy The winner received a trophy donated by North Sports and presented by In the pre Juvenile division Klrsten caputred first place with Sherry placing second and Heather Corbett placing third Also competing In event were Susan Snow and Janet Ron Snow of the Georgetown Figure Skating club presented the winners trophy on behalf of the Toronto Dominion bank In the Juvenile division won first place honors with Hay ley Qlnn placing second and Madeline Rogers third Moores Sherry Smeaton Laura Yerxa and Linda were the other division contestants Doug Hauser presented the trophy to Miss Pilate on behalf the Royal Bank Sharon Hewitt was the only contestant In the division and captured the trophy donated and presented by Mrs Marilyn Barber of the Georgetown Figure Skating club Sharon Watson grabbed first honors in the girls In division with Heather Moores and Cathy placing second and third respectively The winner received a trophy presented by Jim Snow of the Georgetown Figure Skating club on behalf of the Georgetown Kinsman club In the boys Interpretive class Jim Massena captured first place Tommy Simpson placed second and Mark Snow third presented Jim Massena with the winners trophy on behalf which the boys of both teams conducted them selves In the first period alter only seconds of play Georgetown had two minor penalties and The period went scoreless after this but was chippy throughout and Bill of Georgetown was put out of the game for fighting In the second Georgetown tied the score at to Peter Boyle These two boys were two of the few who stuck to playing hockey and played outstanding in a losing cause Again with Georgetown playing Milton went ahead at the mark In the last stanza Georgetown decided to play alley hockey and of the fifteen minutes of regulation time for a
