Association he Warriors defeated the Cougars last Thursday night to take both the cham aeries two games to and the league crown The Warriors won the first game of the final series nan but the Cougar rallied to tie the series and set the stage for Thursday a crucial rubber match In the championship game the Cougars Jumped In front early at one point taking a six point lead The Warriors failed to panic and chipped away the Cougars lead and by half time held a onepoint advantage 10- IB Both teams were stressing defence and the lead changed hands several times throughout the second half As the High School Senior and Junior soccer Rebels opened their season this past week Senior Rebels won a bitterly contested match 1 over White Oaks High School of Oak v llle while the Juniors played twice losing to White Oaks Juniors on Tuesday then claiming a 32 decision over Trafalgar Juniors on Thursday All three matches were played Georgetown District High School In the Senior gome several fights broke out to mar the match and hacking and vicious tackling seemed a part of the White Oaks teams tactics The Georgetown Seniors did not exhibit a good brand of soccer but coach Tom Beer expressed the belief that the attitude of the White Oaks players did not allow his team to concentrate on merely playing good soccer Tom Koch scored the Georgetown counter and it proved to be the winning The Juniors swung Into action on Tuesday coach Jack Brown blamed the defeat on Penalties prove Rams downfall In a surprisingly rough game for so early in the season the Clippers defeated the Hills Rams 1615 in lacrosse action at the Georgetown Arena last Thursday evening This was the second exhibition encounter between these two teams In a little over a week and perhaps in this instance familiarity the closeness of the score dominated Thursday game with Todd Beckett notching all three of his team counters Beckett was an important cog in the Junior machine last year and from his performance on fielded this year this total being dependent on the final registration totals Argos trounce Rebels Two GDHS swimmers in provincial finals The Optimists Club of Georgetown sponsored an exhibition basketball game between the Rebels and a team composed of Toronto Argonauts football players last Friday evening at the GDHS gym The Argonaut contingent was led by team quarterback Mike and Included Cor Paul Krause Morris and Wayne Allison Their opponents from included various members of this past weeks Junior and Senior basketball Rebels The fans who attended the contest were treated to a fine basketball game with the pass run and kick boys displaying their athletic ability away with an win Mike Rae the gridiron leader played the same role on the hardwood floor and hit for 34 points as the Glrvan swimming for the Cblnguacousy Swim Club competed in the Ontario Age Group 1517 years Division Two swimming championships at Castle Frank High School in Toronto on the weekend The competition featured a program that saw more than 200 competitors from 13 Ontario swim clubs taking part The competition was sanctioned by the Ontario Section of the Canadian Association JohnGirvan competed in 100 yard breast stroke events while Cathy confined herself to the yard backstroke competition Although John swam well he was unable to reach the finals in either of hla two events Cathy however finished in final withn time of 1 to highlight her swim club accomplishments Cathy has been swimming for the Chinguacousy club for three years while John Girvan has been a member for over four years On June 1 the club will be holding a swim a thon to at tempt to raise money for further competitions but at present their main worry is the acquiring of a part time coach The new executive of
